How to get ticket..train..restaurant..

Hello, I'm japanese and I live in Kyoto for over 20 years and I'm studying English now.

Thesedays, many foreign people come to Japan for several reason,
trip, buisiness, shopping, study japanese, and so on.

I feel some of them have troubles in Japan, especially people who start living or visit Japan for the first time.
Today, I gonna show you how to use ticket vending machines when you get train and bus, or when you go some restaurant!

1.How to get train ticket

When you get trains in Japan, you usually have to get your ticket first.
Don't worry about that, it's not difficult.
①before you get the ticket, you need to know how much it takes to go to the station where you want to go.
You can see the line map on the top of the ticket vendor.

②Put enough money in ticket vendor.

③Push a button that says as same amount as station where you get off.
If  it costs ¥400 to go where you want, you are going to choice the button displayed "¥400" on the ticket vendor.

④Insert your ticket ticket gate.

!You can go through only the gate indicated by an up arrow like picture!

In addition, once you get your ticket, you can get on any train like limited express and local train.
In japanese, it says
Local stop train→普通(Hutsu)
Rapid train   →快速(Kaisoku)or 急行(Kyukou)
Limited express→特急(Tokkyu)

Be carefull that limited train might skip the station where you want!

2.How to get meal ticket

In some restaurants in Japan like Ramen, Set meal and Bentou, They have a ticket vending machine and this is little hard to understand how to use for foreign people.
①Insert your money.
I see some people pressing buttons before inserting money. Remember, ticket vendor won't work unless you insert money first.

②Choice what you want.
If the button that you will choice doesn't light up, that means you don't insert enough money to get it yet and the product no longer or no more be sold there.

Enjoy Japan!
